The Assignr integration with PlayMetrics allows you to make changes to games on the PlayMetrics platform and have those changes automatically reflected in your game schedule in Assignr.
The PlayMetrics integration can be enabled by contacting the PlayMetrics Customer Success team. You must be on the per-official League, Elite, or Enterprise plans, or a per-game plan to use this feature. This functionality is not available on the Recreational or Trial plans.
Before the Integration Can Work
Make sure the following already exist in your Assignr site before turning on game sync — PlayMetrics will not create any of these automatically:
Leagues — each PlayMetrics competition links to an existing Assignr league
Age Groups — PlayMetrics maps divisions to existing Assignr age groups. Note: PlayMetrics uses birth year (e.g. 2010) while Assignr typically uses “under” age groups (e.g. U16)
Officiating Patterns — missing patterns are the most common cause of failed syncs
Venues — PlayMetrics facilities are mapped to Assignr venues during setup
A Payor — required if you’ll be configuring payment settings through the integration
Step 1: Request Access Through PlayMetrics
Reach out to the PlayMetrics Customer Success team and ask to be added to the Assignr integration. Once they’ve enabled you on their end, they’ll coordinate with our team to complete the connection — you don’t need to contact Assignr support separately for this step.
Step 2: Set Up Your Import Rules
Before games can sync in, your Assignr site needs an Import Rule that tells the system how to handle incoming games — at minimum, a default officiating pattern for new games.
Navigate to [Your Name] → Settings, and under API Integration, select Set the Import Rules for New Games. Check whether an “All Games” catch-all rule already exists at the bottom of the list. If not, select + New Rule and create one.
You can get more specific with which types of games should have what patterns and other game attributes by further configuring your import rules.
📖 You can learn more about how Game Import Rules work here: How to Set Up Game Import Rules.
Step 3: Complete Setup in PlayMetrics
The remaining configuration — linking competitions to Assignr leagues, mapping facilities to venues, and turning on game sync — is done from within PlayMetrics under the Refassignor role. The PlayMetrics team can walk you through this process directly.
A few things to keep in mind as you go through setup on their end:
Each competition is linked to an Assignr league individually, with its own sync toggle, payment settings, and age group mapping options
Facilities in PlayMetrics must be mapped to your Assignr venues — unmapped facilities will cause games at those locations to fail to sync and will appear in the Failed Game Sync list with an error reason
Not all refassignors have access to the integration by default — your league contact will need to grant each refassignor access from within PlayMetrics
If you use Events in Assignr, let the PlayMetrics team know upfront — you’ll be asked to link each competition to an event during setup
If you run into any errors related to your Assignr account during setup (missing leagues, age groups, officiating patterns, etc.), reach out to us at [email protected] and we can help.
What to Expect Once Sync Is On
Games sync from PlayMetrics into Assignr in near real-time — typically seconds to minutes depending on volume.
Games come in as unpublished. You’ll need to publish them in Assignr before officials can see their assignments. Learn how to publish games here: How to Publish Games.
Always make game changes in PlayMetrics, not Assignr. If a game was created through the integration, edits made in Assignr may be overridden when PlayMetrics sends the next update. The one exception is the officiating Pattern — it’s fine to adjust that directly in Assignr.
Leave game sync on once it’s enabled. If it’s turned off while changes are made in PlayMetrics, you’ll need to manually reconcile those changes.
The integration only manages games it added. Any games already in your Assignr site — added manually or via spreadsheet — are unaffected.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need to publish games in Assignr after they sync over?
Yes. Games come in from PlayMetrics as unpublished. You’ll need to publish them in Assignr before officials can see their assignments.
2. Why did a game fail to sync?
The most common reasons are an unmapped facility, a missing age group mapping, or a missing officiating pattern in Assignr. You can view failed syncs and the specific error reason in the Notifications section in PlayMetrics. Reach out to [email protected] if you need help resolving a specific error.
3. What happens if a game is cancelled in PlayMetrics?
It will be cancelled without pay in Assignr. If the game should be cancelled with pay, you can update the game’s status in Assignr after the fact.
4. Can I make changes to a game directly in Assignr?
For most fields, no — changes should always be made in PlayMetrics, as edits in Assignr may be overridden by the next PlayMetrics update. The two exceptions are the officiating Pattern and publishing — both are safe to do directly in Assignr.
5. Will the integration affect games already in my Assignr site?
No. The integration only manages games it adds. Any games already in your site — added manually or via spreadsheet — are unaffected.
6. Can one PlayMetrics site connect to more than one Assignr site?
Yes. Contact us or the PlayMetrics team for help configuring a multi-site setup.
7. My integration isn’t working and I’m on a Trial or Recreational plan — what should I do?
The integration requires a paid Assignr plan (League, Elite, Enterprise, or per-game). Reach out to us at [email protected] and we can help find the right plan for your organization.
