Travel restrictions allow an official to specify the maximum distance they are willing to travel from their home. By default, Assignr sites allow officials to indicate their travel preferences from within the Preferences section of their account.

There are two steps involved with enabling travel restrictions:

  1. You as the assignor must ensure your Venues have a Google Maps address tied to them.

  2. Your officials must specify both their home address and the maximum distance they're willing to travel, from within their Preferences.

How to Enable Travel Restrictions.

1. Add an Address to Each Venue.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Maintenance β†’ Venues.

  2. Select Edit, next to any venue that does not have a blue pin next to it (indicating a Google Maps address).

  3. In the Search bar at the top of the screen, search for and select the venue's address. If needed, a venue's exact location can be fine-tuned by dragging and dropping the pin on the map.

  4. Optional: make any other necessary updates to the venue.

  5. Select Save.

Repeat these steps for each venue that does not yet have a blue pin next to it.

2. Encourage your Officials to Input their Travel Restrictions (within Preferences).

If an official would only like to work games within a specific distance of their home address, they will need to edit their Preferences.

An assignor can also change this on behalf of an official from within an official's profile, by selecting Assignment Preferences, and updating the preferences from there.

To update an official's travel restrictions, simply follow these steps:

  1. Select Edit Travel Restriction.

  2. Enter the official's home address in the Search bar, and select it.

  3. Add the number of miles/kilometers the official is willing to travel from their address.

  4. Select Save.

Officials can omit adding a Travel Restriction if they'd prefer to work games any distance from their home.

How to Honor your Officials' Travel Restrictions when Assigning.

Assignors will see a V (Venue) conflict when an official is assigned to a game that is outside of their travel area. Simply don't assign officials to an assignment if there is a V conflict code next to their name.

You can also read a description of that conflict code within the Conflicts tab, when assigning.
