In order to send money to your officials, you'll need to move through a series of steps to set up direct deposit in your site.

This article provides an overview of each of these steps.

Once you've set up direct deposit, you can move forward with actually paying officials, which you can learn how to do in our collection that covers The Direct Deposit Process.

An Overview of How to set up Direct Deposit:

1. Enable Two-Step Authentication.

We highly recommend that you enable two-step authentication before setting up direct deposit. Two-step authentication - also known as two-factor authentication or 2FA - enhances the security of your account by requiring more than just your password to log in.

Learn how to do this here: How to Enable Two-Step Authentication.

2. Create a Payor.

Your payor is the organization or individual that will be funding the payments to your officials.

To create a payor, follow the steps in this article: How to Create a Payor.

3. OPTIONAL: Grant the person in charge of pushing payments through access to your Payor.

If you are the person that will be moving money from your organization's bank account over to officials, then you can skip this step.

If someone else will be pushing the payments through, you can grant that person access to the payor you just created, so that they can complete the remaining set-up steps.

To do this, follow the steps in this article: How to Grant Users Payor Permissions.

🚨 The remaining steps should be completed by the individual who will be pushing payments through, whether that is yourself or whoever you granted payor access to, in step #3 above.

4. Set Up your Payment Account within your Payor.

To complete this step, individuals or organizations that are paying officials will need to provide personal and/or business information (date of birth, social security number/EIN, etc). You may be asked to provide scanned documentation, such as a US government-issued ID or state-issued driver's license.

🚨 This step can take several days, so we recommend starting it well before you actually need to send payments through to officials.

5. Add a Bank Account to your Payor.

Once your payment account has been created, you'll need to add and verify the bank account that will be used to pay officials. The bank account will be verified by providing bank login credentials or by entering the amounts of two small deposits initiated by the platform.

Learn how to add a bank account to your payor here: How to Add a Bank Account to your Payor.

6. Activate direct deposit, by purchasing a direct deposit plan.

Our payment services are purchased on an annual basis.

The direct deposit plan has a base fee that is paid in advance, which allows you to process a specific volume or number of transactions over the course of the year. Transactions processed beyond the limit(s) purchased will be charged a transaction fee, in a pay as you go model.

Learn how to activate service here: How to Activate your Direct Deposit Plan.

7. Direct your Officials to add their W9 & Bank Account.

In order for us to send your direct deposit payments to your officials, we will need them to add both their W9 and bank account information to their Assignr accounts.

We provide some automated prompts for them to do this, but if you'd like, you can also send your officials a message from you directly, prompting them to do the same. Assignors will often send an email to inform officials:

  1. that their organization will send direct deposit payments to them through Assignr, and

  2. in order for their game fees to make it to them, they need to add their W9 & bank account information to their Assignr accounts.

Officials can learn how to do these things in our collection for officials: Direct Deposit for Officials.
