Payments Timeline & Funding Options

How long does it take for officials to get paid? Assignr has several options for funding your payments to officials.

For payments made on the Assignr platform, the time required to pay officials depends on the source of the funds, as well as whether the payor is on Standard Timing or Priority Timing.

Payments to officials can be funded from two different sources: either directly from a bank account, or from funds that have been transferred into our payment network.

Funding payments directly from a bank account is more convenient, but adds additional time to the payment process.

If a payment batch is funded with money already in the network, officials are paid more quickly, but it does require planning ahead and initiating a bank transfer in advance of when officials are to be paid.

The following timelines apply to payments:

The actual timing for a payment batch will be shown on the payment page when payments are initiated.

Additionally, we always include the expected deposit date in notifications sent to officials, both via email and mobile push notification. The expected deposit date can also be found on the Financials β†’ My Payments Received page on the website.

All new payors will initially be on Standard Timing.

Standard Timing

For payments funded directly by your bank account, officials will see the funds in their bank account within 4 business days. As an example, if you initiate a transfer to officials prior to 5:00 PM Eastern time on a Monday, using your bank account as the funding source, officials will see the funds in their account on Friday.

Once a payor establishes a pattern of successful payments on the platform, payors are reviewed and will be upgraded automatically to Priority Timing. The minimum amount of time that a payor will be on Standard Timing is 30 days.

Priority Timing

Once a payor has been upgraded to Priority Timing, payors can fund payments to officials with their bank account, and officials are paid on a faster timeline.

On Priority Timing, for payments funded directly by your bank account, officials will see the funds in their bank account within 2 business days. As an example, if you initiate a transfer to officials prior to 5:00 PM Eastern time on a Monday, using your bank account as the funding source, officials will see the funds in their account on Wednesday.

Next Day Payments

Assignr supports initiating Next Day payments to officials. However, this requires payors to plan ahead, as they will need to transfer funds into our payment network several days in advance of when officials are paid.

Initiating a Next Day payment has several steps:

Transfer funds into the payment network. Use the Transfer Funds menu option, located on your payor page, to initiate a transfer of funds into the Assignr payment network.

Wait for the transfer to clear into the network. Transfers into the Assignr network require 3 business days to clear into the network. If you transfer funds on Monday by 5:00 PM Eastern time, the funds transferred into the network will be available for use on Thursday morning.

Initiate payments to officials. Once the funds have cleared into the network, payors can initiate payments to officials using these funds. For payments funded by your network balance, officials will see the funds in their bank account within 1 business day. As an example, if you initiate a transfer to officials prior to 5:00 PM Eastern time on a Monday, using your network balance as the funding source, officials will see the funds in their account on Tuesday.

When paying officials using this method, be sure to choose Dwolla Balance or Assignr Balance as the payment source. Only funds that have cleared into our network, and are showing as available in your balance, can be used to pay officials using this method.

Daily Cutoff for Payments

All payments are processed at 5:00PM Eastern, Monday through Friday, excluding any US banking holidays.

For payments initiated after 5:00 PM Eastern time, on a weekend, or on a banking holiday, they will be treated as if they were initiated on the next business day.

Bank Transfers

To use our Next Day Payments feature, you will need to transfer funds into the Assignr network in advance of when you want to pay officials. Additionally, if a payment to an official is not successful, the funds for the failed payment will be returned to your Assignr account balance.

Bank transfers are typically used in two different scenarios:

Funding a Next Day Payment. If you use the Next Day payment functionality, you will use a bank transfer to move funds into the Assignr payment network.

Returning Funds to your Bank Account. If a payment to an official is not successful, the funds for this payment will be returned to your Assignr account balance. You can then use these funds to pay other officials, or transfer them back into your bank account.

We do not charge any fees for these transfers.

Transfers from your bank account into the Assignr network require 3 business days to clear. As an example, if you transfer funds on Monday by 5:00 PM Eastern time, they will be available for use on Thursday.

Transfers from the Assignr network into your bank account require 1 business day to clear. As an example, if you transfer funds on Monday by 5:00 PM Eastern time, they will be available in your bank account on Tuesday.

If you are funding payments to officials using your bank account, it is not necessary to transfer funds into the Assignr network in advance. Funds will be withdrawn from your bank account at the time you initiate the payment to officials.

Funding Payments with a Credit Card, Mailed Check or Wire Transfer

Our payment system is exclusively ACH/direct deposit. Payments to officials are funded through an ACH withdrawal from your bank account, and officials are paid via ACH deposit.

You can also pre-fund your Dwolla Balance via an ACH direct withdrawal, which is initiated through the Assignr site, and pay officials using the funds stored in your Dwolla Balance.

Assignr does not accept paper checks, wire transfers, or credit card payments for funding officiating payments. Additionally, we are unable to mail a paper check to an official for payment.

If you are interested in either of these services, please contact us, and we can let you know if this is something we add in the future.
